Our Team
Registered Social Workers
Natasha Rykaszewski MSW, RSW
Hi, I’m Natasha — a registered social worker and the founder of Rooted in Counselling.
My experience includes supporting youth and adults navigating anxiety, depression, stress, interpersonal conflict, emotional regulation, and trauma. The path to healing, growth, and meaningful change is one I know personally.
Before founding my private practice, I worked in the field of social work for over six years, learning both professionally and personally through my work in diverse communities. My own inner work inspired me to use my lived experience and professional knowledge to guide others toward intentional living and achieving their goals.
My approach is collaborative and eclectic — I partner with you to create a personalized plan that incorporates a range of modalities based on your unique needs. I aim to be both a guide and a support system: someone who listens deeply, speaks with compassion, and gently challenges you to consider new perspectives. Our work together may bring tears and laughter — both are welcome here.
Lisa Roelfsema MSW, RSW
Hello — I’m Lisa. I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can speak freely. My strength lies in listening to truly understand your story and collaborating with you to create meaningful goals and strategies for navigating life’s challenges.
I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University and have over 24 years of experience, including 18 years supporting those affected by cancer and more than 10 years in private practice.
I support couples in identifying and changing unhelpful relationship patterns to improve communication and connection. Ask yourself: What would need to change for me to say I’m ready for this work?
I am a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) and the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
Elly Mowers MSW, RSW
Hi, I’m Elly. I’m excited to meet you! I hold a Master of Social Work from York University (2011), along with an Honours Bachelor of Social Work, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Diploma in General Arts and Science.
While my academic background provided the foundation for my profession, my life experiences have been my most powerful teachers.
My personal journey has equipped me to support you in discovering your authentic self, embracing your worth, aligning your actions with your values, and facing life with courage. Together, we can create meaningful change and work toward your goals.

Katie Hillier MSW, RSW
Hi and welcome! I’m Katie — a Registered Social Worker at Rooted in Counselling.
I hold a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto (2014), with a focus on Social Justice and Diversity.
I work with perinatal families navigating mental health challenges throughout their journey — including anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting difficulties, reproductive health concerns, infertility, and third-party reproduction.
I also support children, youth, and families facing trauma, family conflict, attachment issues, depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts.
My work in northern and remote communities has shaped my trauma-informed approach. I incorporate play-based therapy, narrative work, and client-informed feedback. This perspective comes from supporting clients with intergenerational trauma, complex family dynamics, and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
I have completed Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Training, hold a certification in Infant Mental Health, and have previous training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
Kasia Oxley BSW, RSW
Hi, I’m Kasia — a registered social worker passionate about helping individuals reclaim their stories and move toward meaningful change.
My work is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I draw on these approaches to support clients in gaining insight, breaking old patterns, and making intentional choices that align with their values.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and non-judgmental. I offer a safe space where you can deepen self-awareness, build self-compassion, and strengthen resilience. Whether you're navigating a life transition, feeling stuck, or looking to reconnect with yourself, we’ll work together to uncover new perspectives, challenge limiting beliefs, and create practical strategies for growth.
Let’s begin this journey together — one grounded in courage, clarity, and connection.

I also work with parents who may need support to understand and walk with their children while they go through changes and want to enhance their child-parent relationship.
My approach is gentle, kind, authentic, attentive and playful allowing the therapeutic process to unfold and tailoring my approach and pace according to the needs of the child/ youth I am working with. I use elements of play therapy, art and creativity, sand tray, puppets, bibliotherapy alongside talk therapy in order to help children and youth share their story and perspective, connect with their inner resources and develop their resilience, learn strategies to manage difficult feelings, be creative and playful, manage transitions effectively and build a secure relationship with themselves and others.
Allison Jones , RP
Hi, I’m Allison. I am a Registered Psychotherapist with more than 20 years of experience working in the field of child and youth mental health.
I have extensive training in providing assessment and treatment to individuals, children and families who are struggling with anxiety, relational concerns, emotion regulation, attachment and parenting, behavioural issues and the impact of trauma.
Therapy is a uniquely personal experience and there is no one “right” approach. I create a safe space to explore your challenges and help you feel understood. Using a family systems lens, I believe that a child/youth’s struggles should be viewed in the context of their environment and that family members have a significant role in the healing journey.
It takes courage to ask for help and I provide a safe, non-judgemental space to support you. If you are ready for some help, you are worried about your child’s mental health, or you are experiencing your own stress or mental health challenges, you’ve come to the right place.
